What Are the Maximum Coverage Limits for Patriot Platinum Insurance?
The policy maximum is the total dollar amount of benefits available under your Patriot Platinum plan. Once this limit is reached, no additional benefits will be paid. Travelers can choose from four coverage tiers based on their destination, age, and budget.
$1M
Essential
Patriot America Platinum only. Available for travelers under 65 visiting the USA.
$2M
Enhanced
Available on both plans. A strong balance of coverage and affordability for most travelers.
$5M
Premium
Recommended for extended stays, senior travelers under 65, and frequent international travelers.
$8M
Maximum
Highest available. Ideal for travelers who want the most comprehensive protection with no compromise.
Why Choose Higher Coverage?
- A single night in a US hospital can cost $10,000 or more - higher limits ensure you're never underinsured.
- Emergency medical evacuation alone can exceed $100,000; your policy maximum covers this cost.
- ICU stays, surgeries, and specialist care can exhaust lower limits quickly during a serious illness.
- Higher maximums provide greater peace of mind for longer trips and older travelers.
Coverage Limit Availability by Age
- Ages 0–64: All four policy maximums available ($1M, $2M, $5M, $8M).
- Ages 65–69: Maximum coverage capped at $1M (America Platinum) or $2M (International Platinum).
- Ages 70–79: Maximum coverage of $100,000.
- Age 80 and above: Maximum coverage of $20,000.
What Is a Deductible in Patriot Platinum Insurance?
The deductible is the amount the insured must pay before Patriot Platinum insurance starts covering eligible medical expenses.
This premium IMG visitor insurance plan allows travelers to choose a deductible based on their budget, travel duration, and preferred out-of-pocket cost.
Lower deductibles usually result in higher premiums, while higher deductibles can help reduce the monthly insurance cost.
For many travelers visiting the USA, the $250 deductible offers a strong balance between affordable premiums and manageable medical expenses. Younger healthy travelers may consider $500 or $1,000 for lower premium costs.
| Deductible | Premium Impact | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| $0 | Highest premium | Travelers wanting minimal out-of-pocket cost |
| $100 | Higher premium | Visitors preferring lower upfront expenses |
| $250 | Moderate | Best overall value for most travelers |
| $500 | Lower premium | Healthy visitors and shorter trips |
| $1,000 | Low premium | Younger travelers needing basic protection |
| $2,500 | Very low premium | Emergency or catastrophic coverage focus |
| $5,000 - $25,000 | Lowest premium | Maximum premium savings with high risk tolerance |
How Does Coinsurance Work in Patriot Platinum Insurance?
Co-insurance is the percentage of eligible expenses the company will pay after the deductible is met. If the insured receives treatment in the PPO Network, Patriot Platinum insurance pays 100%. And Outside the PPO Network the plan pays 100% of eligible expenses up to $5,000, then 100% up to the maximum Limit.
Can the Patriot Platinum Plan Be Extended or Renewed?
- Patriot Platinum insurance can be extended for a minimum of 5 days up to a 12 months period, until reaching a maximum of 36 continuous months.
- Prior to the end of each period of coverage purchased, you will receive renewal information.
- You have the option to renew online or you may complete a paper renewal form.
- Each insured person must only satisfy one deductible and coinsurance within each 12 month period of coverage.
