The Travel America plan is available for domestic trips within the United States and provides a wide range of coverages for you and up to seven traveling companions for trips within the United States. These benefits include emergency medical expenses, trip inconvenience that can provide reimbursement for events such as the closure of ski resorts, golf courses and beaches because of certain conditions and roadside assistance and car rental collision coverage. The Travel America plan also provides coverage for pre-existing medical conditions if the plan is purchased within three days of your final trip payment.

02. Can Travel America be used for travel outside of the United States?

Travel America is only available for domestic trips within the United States. This includes all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, trips to U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico are not eligible for coverage on this plan.

Keep in mind that Travel America is available for trips up to 14 days in length and within the United States. If your trip exceeds 14 days or takes you outside of the U.S., you may want to explore the Travel Select or Travel Basic plans instead.

05. What shared benefits are included with Travel America Insurance?

When it comes to travel insurance, shared benefits means the coverage amounts listed on the policy are shared across all eligible travelers. In the event of a claim, the primary traveler who is listed on the policy would file the claim and submit all necessary receipts. The reimbursement on a claim will be paid to the primary traveler listed on the policy who will then distribute the funds to the traveling companions accordingly.

06. Are there any limitations or restrictions with Travel America Insurance?

Travel America is limited to trips within the United States that are 14 days or less in length and at least 100 miles away from your residence.

It is also important to know the trip cancellation and interruption benefit of this plan only provides coverage for trip costs up to $750. If you are looking for a plan with additional trip cancellation and interruption coverage, you will want to consider theTravel Select or Travel Basic plan.

07. What is secondary coverage?

While Travel America offers medical benefits to help cover out-of-pocket expenses during your trip, it's important to understand that it provides secondary coverage. This means that if you incur medical costs while traveling, you'll need to first file a claim with your existing insurance provider, and then submit a claim to your travel insurance for reimbursement.

If you prefer a plan with primary coverage, you can opt for Travelex's Travel Select or Travel Basic plans. With primary coverage, you can file a claim directly with your travel insurance provider, without needing to involve your existing insurance. This can simplify the process and speed up reimbursement.

08. Will Travel America travel insurance cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Yes, coverage for pre-existing medical conditions is available if you purchase the Travel America plan within three days of your final trip payment.
