1. Car Rental Collision Coverage

If an upcoming trip includes a rental car, the Travelex car rental collision upgrade provides the extra bit of protection you may need. In the event your car is involved in a collision, car rental collision is able to provide increased coverage to help pay expensive bills that you might incur. Covers Up to $35,000 for collision damage, vandalism, windstorm, hail fire or flood to a rental car while on your trip. $100 deductible.

2. Flight accidental death & dismemberment

Receive protection for certain eligible accidents during your flight with the flight accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) upgrade. The flight AD&D upgrade is available for those who wish to add an extra layer of airline-related protection to their trip. In addition to your Travelex travel insurance plan, this upgrade helps provide some extra peace of mind during take-off and touchdown, as well as when you’re in the air.

Covers up to $200,000 if loss of life, limbs or sight occurs from an accidental injury while on an airline flight.

01. What is Travel Basic Insurance?

02. Why should I purchase a Travel Basic insurance policy?

Whether you're traveling within your state or across the country, Travel Basic offers the essential coverage you need at an affordable price. It's the perfect insurance plan for backpackers, students, and small groups, providing solid protection to help safeguard both you and your financial investment in your trip.

03. Does Travel Basic insurance cover pre-existing waiver?

The Travel Basic plan does not include coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that would have prompted a reasonable person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment within the 60 days prior to and including your effective date. If you would like to receive coverage for a pre-existing medical condition, consider our Travel Select and Travel America plans.

04. What are the differences between Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits?

Trip cancellation coverage is available if the entire trip is cancelled even before the start of the trip (this is even before the trip start date). Trip interruption coverage is applicable only after the start of the trip. Trip interruption comes is applicable if the trip is cancelled for a valid covered reason (unless you have the Travel Basic plan which covers CFAR), after the start of the trip and here the insured traveler has to return to his/her home country.

05. Does the Travel Basic plan offer any additional coverages?

Yes. Travelex Travel Basic plan covers listed additional coverages:

  • Car rental car collision: Up to $35,000 per policy (with a $100 deductible
  • Air AD & D coverage: covers up to $200,000
06. What is not covered under the Travel Basic travel insurance plan?

Travel Basic does not provide a pre-existing condition exclusion waiver for any medical condition. However, the Travel Basic plan only has a 60-day look back period for pre-existing medical conditions from the effective date of your plan. You may be eligible to receive a pre-existing condition exclusion waiver on our Travel Select and Travel America plans.

Additionally, Travel Basic does not include sporting equipment delay coverage. This particular benefit is available in the Travel Select plan only.Finally, the optional plan upgrades of adventure sports, additional medical coverage, and cancel for any reason are not available on the Travel Basic plan — only the Travel Select plan.

It is important to note that travel insurance won’t cover events that were reasonably foreseeable, and you must always take steps to reduce risk on your journey. Policies will not cover claims arising as a result of intoxication or being under the influence of drugs. See your policy for a full list of exclusions and limitations.

07. Is the early purchase benefit automatically included with the Travel Basic plan?

Yes, but only if you purchase a Travel Basic plan within 15 days of the initial trip payment. If you do, the coverage for financial default will be included in your plan.
