Get Answers to All Your Visitors Insurance Questions?

1. Do I need a Social Security number to purchase visitor insurance?

No, you can complete the form using the passport number or other government ID number. Citizens from some countries are reluctant to give their passport numbers. For that reason, you can use a different ID or simply enter "unavailable" in the form. However, when a claim is made, you will likely have to show your valid passport, so be sure your name on the policy matches what is shown on this document.

2. How do I purchase visitor medical insurance? When does the insurance take effect?

It is quick and convenient to shop for insurance on our website. With our insurance quote compare tool you can get quotes along with plan details, simply by filling a simple form. After comparing the plans, and selecting one specific plan, the 'Buy' button will lead you to the chosen plans online application form. The customer should now complete the plan and pay using the credit card. On completing the online application, the customer will receive an email acknowledgment which is the virtual ID card. The plan coverage begins according to the date chosen in the application, with the earliest being the following day after the purchase. Some insurers also mail a copy of the plan to the mailing address in the application. This process can take 3-5 business days.

3. Is this insurance plan purchased on a calendar monthly basis, or can a plan span 2 calendar months?

Many plans have a minimum purchase period (usually 5 days, but some are longer) and a maximum period. What this means is that when you buy a plan, you will be paying for at least 5 days of insurance coverage. This will not matter for travelers who are traveling for more than 5 days, however, if you are traveling for less than 5 days, you will be paying for the full five days of coverage.

4. When I buy a policy for more than one person, I am asked for only one passport number. Don't you need the passport number of all applicants?

In many insurance plans, only one passport number per family is required per application. However, persons must all be of the same nationality on one policy. For example, if parents are Indian and their child has an American passport, the child and parents must have their own policies. Particularly in this example, American citizens traveling to the US have very specific and limited options for medical insurance. Please call us or explore this further on our website.

5. I am having H1 Visa. I am looking for health insurance and wondering if Visitors Care plan works for me? Does it have arrival time restriction?

Yes. This plan works for you. This plan has a requirement for visitors over 65 only to purchase the insurance within 30 days of their arrival in US.

6. Will I have to pay myself or can the Insurer make direct billing to the provider if I buy Visitors Care?

Some providers might be willing to call the Insurer and get directly paid from them but some might not. Insurers also will have their own way to pay the claims. In case direct billing does not work, we have claim forms on our website from the Insurance Company which you can download, fill and scan with the receipts and email to the Insurer and they will reimburse the amount.

7. How do I know which hospitals I can go to with Visitors Care plan?

Visitors Care plan belongs to the company IMG.
They have their PPO network. It is called "First Health" network. You can find this information at our product page here: Visitors Care Plan Details. You can type in your zipcode and find the hospitals that come under their network.

8. What should I do so the provider recognises the insurance plan I have?

Most of the providers inside the PPO network of the company do not recognize the company. You need to let the provider know the name of the PPO network. In case of Visitors Care plan, the name of the PPO network is "First Health" network.
