Adventure Sports Travel Insurance
Whether you're skiing, snowboarding, snorkeling, hiking, or enjoying other recreational adventure activities, Atlas Travel Insurance helps protect you from unexpected medical expenses while traveling. With up to $2 million in travel medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation, and coverage for many eligible vacation sports at no additional cost, Atlas Travel gives you the confidence to explore the world. Plans start at less than $1 per day.
Why Adventure Travelers Need Specialized Coverage?
Standard travel insurance often excludes injuries from sports and outdoor activities - leaving you exposed to large medical bills if you're hurt while skiing, diving, or hiking abroad. Atlas Travel Insurance closes that gap by building sports coverage directly into the plan, so you don't have to buy a separate policy just to enjoy your trip.
- Domestic health insurance and most standard travel plans do not cover hazardous or recreational sports injuries.
- Emergency care and evacuation abroad can cost tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket.
- Atlas Travel Insurance includes coverage for many popular vacation sports at no additional cost - no separate rider required for everyday activities like skiing or snorkeling.
Adventure Sports Covered at No Extra Cost
Atlas America and Atlas International include coverage for eligible injuries and illnesses sustained while participating in many popular recreational and vacation sports at no additional cost, including:
- Skiing (recreational downhill & cross-country)
- Snowboarding
- Snorkeling
- Water skiing
- Hiking
- Other similar recreational vacation activities incidental to your trip
Higher-Risk Adventure Sports - Optional Coverage
For higher-risk activities, Atlas plans offer an optional Adventure Sports Rider (subject to plan and eligibility) that can extend coverage to activities such as:
Abseiling, BMX biking, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hot air ballooning, zip lining, skydiving, paragliding, parascending, rappelling, spelunking, windsurfing, and similar approved activities.
Note: Extreme or professional/competitive sports, motorsports, and high-altitude mountaineering may still be excluded even with a rider. Always confirm your specific activity is eligible before your trip.
