Atlas International insurance is available in three plan levels so travelers can balance coverage against budget: Atlas International, Atlas International Premium, and Atlas Essential International. Each plan covers the acute onset of pre-existing conditions (except Atlas Essential), complications of pregnancy in the first 26 weeks, and sports-related injuries at no extra cost.
After purchase, travelers can access their plan documents, ID card, and claims information anytime through the Atlas International login on the WorldTrips member portal.

Atlas Essential International - What is great about this plan
This is a very economical comprehensive plan. It does not have many of the side travel benefits (baggage loss or trip delay), focusing on medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation. This makes is a good option if you just want a stripped down plan primarily focused on health coverage. Unlike the version that covers travel to the US, the International version pays 100% after the deductible, making it affordable and good basic coverage.
Downsides to this plan: It does not have baggage loss, trip delay and other usual benefits that can be found on most travel insurance plans.

Atlas International vs. Atlas America: Which Plan Do You Need?
The two plans cover opposite directions of travel, so the right choice depends on where you're headed. Atlas America is the mirror-image plan built for travelers visiting the United States. If your trip includes both destinations, check with our team before purchasing - you may need separate policies for each leg.

High coverage limits up to $2,000,000 for travelers under 65, with emergency medical evacuation covered up to $1,000,000 lifetime maximum.
Acute onset of pre-existing conditions covered up to age 79 - up to the full policy maximum for travelers under 70, and up to $100,000 (or the policy max, whichever is lower) for ages 70–79, plus $25,000 toward related emergency evacuation.

Vacation sports coverage is included at no extra cost, covering recreational activities like skiing, hiking, scuba diving, and cycling.
Covers complications of pregnancy during the first 26 weeks of gestation, plus optional riders for Crisis Response, additional AD&D, and Personal Liability.
Age-transition protection - if purchased at age 79, coverage continues uninterrupted even if the insured turns 80 during the policy period.
Atlas International Insurance Disadvantages
6 limitsNo trip cancellation coverage - the plan includes trip interruption (up to $10,000) if you must end a trip early, but nothing is reimbursed if you cancel before departure.
No coverage inside the USA - this plan is strictly for travel outside your home country and excludes the United States; travelers needing US coverage need Atlas America instead.
Only acute onset of pre-existing conditions is covered - sudden, life-threatening flare-ups requiring treatment within 24 hours, not ongoing or routine treatment of an existing condition.
Reduced limits for older travelers - ages 65–79 are capped at $50,000 or $100,000, and travelers 80 and older are limited to a $10,000 policy maximum with no pre-existing condition coverage.
Not built for continuous multi-year travel - the plan is renewable for up to 364 days per certificate period, so long-term travelers or digital nomads must renew annually, and each renewal resets the deductible.
Geographic purchase restrictions - not available to travelers physically located in New York, Maryland, Washington, Canada, Australia, or Iran at the time of purchase; travel to Iran is also excluded.
What Isn't Covered by Atlas International Insurance?
Like most international travel medical plans, Atlas International is designed for unexpected medical emergencies, not routine care. Common exclusions include: chronic or ongoing treatment of pre-existing conditions (only acute onset is covered), routine physicals and preventive care, elective or cosmetic procedures, mental health and substance-related treatment beyond emergency stabilization, and trip cancellation (only trip interruption is included). Full exclusions are listed in the plan brochure - we recommend reviewing it before purchase, and our licensed agents are happy to answer specific questions at no cost.
How to Renew Atlas International Insurance?
You can renew Atlas International online before your current coverage end date - no medical underwriting is required for renewal. Log into the Member Portal, select your active policy, and choose "Extend Coverage." Your total coverage period cannot exceed 364 days from your original start date, and renewal is not available once a policy has already expired.

Best Schengen Travel Insurance With COVID-19 and Pre-Existing Condition Coverage
Hi, I am traveling to Europe and need travel insurance for Schengen visa requirements. I also want coverage for COVID-19 and acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Which plan is good for international travelers?
Regards,
Vijay
Dear Vijay
Thank you for contacting American Visitor Insurance with your inquiry!
Atlas International Insurance policy is very popular with international travelers and has many excellent features. In particular, it offers coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions up to the policy maximum for medical expenses, along with an additional $25,000 for emergency medical evacuation. For travelers ages 70-79, coverage is available up to the plan maximum or $100,000, whichever is lower. However, the plan does not cover chronic or congenital disorders.
The policy is also unique because it provides coverage for complications of pregnancy during the first 26 weeks of gestation.
If family members have different citizenship statuses, this plan allows you to list each traveler accurately under the same policy. It is especially popular among tourists visiting Europe and satisfies Schengen visa insurance requirements.
The plan also includes COVID-19 coverage, which is clearly mentioned in the downloadable visa letter available after purchase. This visa letter can be used to meet insurance requirements for many countries. Travelers visiting multiple destinations can also download separate visa letters with different destination countries listed.
This type of plan is ideal for tourists, families, and international travelers looking for reliable travel medical insurance for Europe and other international destinations.
