No. You can visit any doctor or hospital you like as the Student Select plan offered by Assurant Health is not an HMO or PPO plan. No referral is needed and no penalty is incurred for out-of-network service.
Yes. The Assurant Health insurance company uses an authorization service. This ensures that you receive the relevant and cost effective care available. Trained personnel with work with you and the doctors to review the course of treatment and advise you of your eligibility for benefits. The identification card you receive with your Student Select policy provides a toll-free number for easy access to this service.
The student insurance provides coverage throughout the year, not just when the school is in session. If you leave school, your coverage continues for the remainder of the policy year. This insurance can also be renewed.
The student insurance plan can move with you anywhere in the United States and Canada.
The student coverage is not tied to any one school and will move with you if you transfer schools.
No you will not lose coverage as long as you attended school full-time for 31 days after the policy effective date. The Student policy stays with you as long as you need it.
