Student Secure is a comprehensive international student insurance plan designed for students and scholars studying outside their home country. This plan is ideal for full-term students, exchange scholars, and those participating in cultural or educational programs abroad. StudentSecure meets or exceeds most visa requirements (including the J-1 visa). It provides a visa letter as proof of coverage.
The Student Secure plan comes in four coverage levels: Smart, Budget, Select, and Elite, each with different policy maximums and benefits. Students can choose the plan that best suits their needs and budget. All plans provide essential health benefits such as coverage for injuries, illnesses, mental health care, vaccinations, and emergency medical evacuations. Additionally, certain plans cover maternity care, organized sports activities, and even pre-existing conditions after a specific waiting period.

"A condition a person has been diagnosed with, is being treated for, or has with reasonable medical certainty before the start of the plan". So a person does not need to know they have the condition for it to be considered pre-existing (a diagnosis is not required).
Acute onset of a pre-existing condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence that is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care. A pre-existing condition that is chronic or congenital, or that gradually becomes worse over time, is not acute onset of a pre-existing condition.

The student secure plan covers injuries and illnesses resulting from participation in leisure sports and activities that are not organized or sponsored by your school. Some examples of covered sports and activities are basketball, soccer, tennis, hiking, skiing, surfing, and yoga. However, some sports and activities are excluded from coverage, such as professional or semi-professional sports, contact sports, extreme sports, and motor sports.
The WorldTrips student secure plan meets the J-1 visa requirements by providing medical benefits for sicknesses and injuries, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation of remains, accidental death and dismemberment, and medical assistance services. The plan also meets or exceeds the minimum coverage amounts required by the U.S. Department of State for J-1 visa holders.
The optional sports rider is an additional benefit that covers up to $5K per injury resulting from intercollegiate, interscholastic, intramural, or club sports. You can add this rider to your plan by paying an extra premium of $1.25 per person per month. You can add this rider at the time of application or during renewal.
The student secure plan covers vaccinations up to $150 per year for Select and Elite plans only. The plan also covers mental health disorders up to a certain amount per year depending on the level of coverage. For example, the Elite plan covers up to $2,500 per year for inpatient treatment and up to $50 per day for outpatient treatment.
The student secure health insurance plan covers pre-existing conditions after a waiting period that varies depending on the level of coverage. The Elite and Select plans have a 6-month waiting period, the Budget plan has a 12-month waiting period, and the Smart plan does not cover pre-existing conditions at all.
The student secure medical insurance covers eligible medical expenses resulting from COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 as any other illness, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. However, if you had COVID-19 before your plan’s effective date and it is considered a pre-existing condition, then it will be subject to the waiting period and benefit limits of your chosen level of coverage.

Your program or university may require you to have valid student health insurance that meets requirements. Many programs and schools provide their own insurance plans, but oftentimes allow students to purchase alternate coverage that meets requirements.

To Cover Unexpected Medical Expenses:

On American Visitors Insurance students can buy US student insurance using a paper application form either on monthly basics or yearly. Students should complete and the Student Secure proposal form and make the payment. On receiving the completed Student Secure insurance application form and the payment, the Student Secure insurance policy will be emailed to the customer.
