The cost of WorldTrips Atlas America insurance for seniors is dependent on the following factors - The age of the traveler, the plan medical maximum coverage, the co-insurance and the deductible.

The higher the plan limit, the higher will be the premium, while the higher the deductible the lower will be the premium. Travelers can choose maximum limits of $50k, $100k,$250K, $500k, $1M,$2M depending on the age of traveller up to age of 64. $50k and $100k coverage is available for people age 65 to 79 years. For above 80 years $20,000 is available.

01. Am I Eligible for an Atlas Premium Insurance Plan?

If you are at least 14 days old and traveling internationally, you are eligible for coverage. You must purchase coverage for at least 5 days, though you do not have to travel all 5 days.If you are under age 65, you may select an overall maximum limit between $50,000 and $2,000,000. Applicants age 65 to 79 may choose an overall maximum limit of $50,000 or $100,000. Atlas Premium Travel insurance offers a $10,000 policy maximum to applicants over age 80.

02. Does the Atlas Premium Travel Insurance Plan Provide Any Trip Cancellation Coverage?

Atlas Premium Travel does not provide any reimbursement if you must cancel your trip prior to departure. However, it does include a Trip Interruption benefit if you must end your trip early due to a covered reason.Note that Atlas Premium Travel medical insurance has a lower premium than most travel insurance plans because it does not include a Trip Cancellation benefit. It also provides more medical benefits with higher coverage limits than most travel insurance plans.

Atlas Premium Insurance Pre-existing Conditions

General definition of pre-existing condition:

"A condition a person has been diagnosed with, is being treated for, or has with reasonable medical certainty before the start of the plan". So a person does not need to know they have the condition for it to be considered pre-existing (a diagnosis is not required).

Acute onset of pre-existing condition*:

Acute onset of a pre-existing condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence that is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care. A pre-existing condition that is chronic or congenital, or that gradually becomes worse over time, is not acute onset of a pre-existing condition.

The Acute Onset of Pre-existing Condition benefit will only apply if all of the following conditions are met:

  1. The Acute onset of a Pre-Existing Condition does not directly or indirectly relate to a chronic condition or congenital condition.
  2. Treatment must be obtained within twenty-four (24) hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or reoccurrence.
  3. You must be under eighty (80) years of age.
  4. You must not be traveling against or in disregard of the recommendations, established treatment programs, or medical advice of a physician or other healthcare provider.
  5. You must not be traveling with the intent or purpose to seek or obtain treatment for the pre-existing condition.
  6. You must be traveling outside your home country.

Atlas Premium Travel Insurance Exclusions

Certain types of medical expenses are excluded from coverage under Atlas Travel insurance. Some exclusions are listed here. Please refer to the Description of Coverage for the complete list of exclusions.

  • Charges resulting directly or indirectly from any pre-existing condition, except as covered under the Acute Onset of Pre-Existing Condition benefit
  • Routine medical examinations
  • Routine pre-natal care, pregnancy, childbirth, and post-natal care
  • Mental health disorders
  • Medical expenses for injury or illness resulting from participation in specifically-excluded extreme sports see Description of Coverage for full list of excluded sports).

Pre-existing condition means any injury, illness, sickness, disease, or other physical, medical, mental, or nervous disorder, condition, or ailment that, with reasonable medical certainty, existed at the time of application or at any time during the 2 years prior to the effective date of this insurance, whether or not previously manifested, symptomatic or known, diagnosed, treated, or disclosed to us prior to the effective date, and including any and all subsequent, chronic or recurring complications or consequences related thereto or resulting or arising therefrom.
