US health-care and the visitor medical insurance while visiting USA
One of the big difference between United States and Brazil is how the healthcare works. In the US, healthcare is privatized and there is no national healthcare available like many other countries. This makes healthcare coverage in US very expensive, and therefore having medical insurance coverage is a necessity.
This need for health insurance is important even for short term visitors, or tourists from Brazil, as well as Brazilian students studying in US universities.
Travel Insurance for students from Brazil in the United States
There are about 16,000 students from Brazil currently studying in the United States. Most of the students from Brazil are in Undergraduate programs while about 30% are Graduate student and another 15% in the Optional Practical Training (OPT) status.
Given the expensive healthcare systemin the US it is important for students from Brazil to buy adequate student medical insurance in the United States.
While most Universities offer student medical insurance, the college student insurance is expensive, and students would prefer outside student insurance if the university allows it.
The international student insurance plans that we provide are more affordable than college student insurance plans while having similar benefits. Our OPT student insuranceplans are also very popular with Brazilian students on the Optional Practical Training (OPT) status.
