Which is the best health insurance for E2 visa holders with pre-existing conditions and sports coverage?

My family and I are relocating to the U.S from Australia under an E2 investment visa. I’m 46, my partner is 40 and her son is 15. We require family health insurance for the 3 of us to start in about 3 weeks time. I have narrowed down the options to the Patriot Platinum America Comprehensive policy but have queries in relation to a couple of things. Hopefully you can assist: 1) My partner has asthma as a pre-existing condition and her son is allergic to different nuts. The website policy says it will cover acute onsite of pre-existing conditions under 70 years of age with varying limits by age up to $1,000,000 but then the brochure says it covers up to $50,000 up to 65 years of age.
Which amount of coverage is correct? Is her asthma and his allergy covered if they have to go to hospital and what is the coverage amount for these pre-existing conditions? 2) The policy mentions 'basic sports'. What sports does this cover? Is snow skiing covered? 3) The policy mentions 'adventure rider sports' as an optional extra. What sports come under adventure rider coverage? Please advise which policy has the greatest coverage for these pre-existing medical conditions as this will likely be the correct policy for us.

support_agentDear Dean,

Thank you for contacting us at American Visitor Insurance for your travel health insurance needs for E2 visa !. Patriot Platinum is the insurance plan from the insurance company IMG(International Medical Group). Regarding your first question, the amount $1,000,000 is the maximum policy coverage which is different from the coverage for acute onset of pre-existing condition. The amount $50,000 specified for acute onset of pre-existing condition is the correct amount.

The brochure mentions "Up to maximum limit" for most of the benefits in the brochure and those are the ones that can provide the policy maximum amount that you choose in your plan. This amount can be anything from $100,000 to $1,000,000. In the website of IMG, under the adventure sports section this is the wording given in their website: The Adventure Sports Rider is available for those up to the age of 65. The following activities are covered to the lifetime maximum amounts listed below as long as they are engaged solely for leisure, recreation, or entertainment purposes: abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hot air ballooning, jungle zip lining, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, rappelling, skydiving; spelunking, whitewater kayaking, wildlife safaris, and windsurfing.

All such activities must be carried out in strict accordance with the rules, regulations, and guidelines of the applicable Governing Body or Authority of each such activity. Certain sports activities are never covered, regardless of whether or not you purchase the Adventure Sports Rider. A complete list of these sports activities can be found in the exclusions section of the Certificate of Insurance.

That same person would only pay $30 for a comprehensive plan to go to Europe. The price is usually double for someone in their Sixties, and even more for older travelers.
