F1 Visa Student Insurance Forum

Hi Mr/Ms,
I am a student recently graduated from UCLA. My current insurance UCShip ends of January 2nd. I need a short-term comprehensive health insurance until February 20th when my job starts. My current visa status is F1 visa. Please let me know the best way to proceed.
Thank you,
Meghana.

Dear Meghana,
Thank you for contacting us for your insurance needs! Since you are on F1 Visa and have already lived here in the US for some time now, you will not be eligible to buy some of our visitor plans. But here is one popular short term comprehensive plan that is available for you.
Atlas Travel plan from Tokiomarine HCC: The Atlas America plan is a good comprehensive plan and very popular with tourists to the US because if you stay within their PPO network (group of doctors and hospitals) you do not have to pay coinsurance (usually 20% of the first $5,000 of medical expenses). Also, children under 10 are covered at no charge with a paying adult (do put them on the application, though). Also, the plan covers "acute onset of pre-existing conditions" for persons under 70 years of age and adventure sports for no additional charge.
To purchase the Atlas America plan and look over details of this plan, use this link (PPO, claims, brochure), you can go directly to this site:

Per our conversation, we would like to get a quote that satisfy the requirement stated in the attached image.
Personal data of student: International student from HK, got F1 visa.

Want to get a quote for health insurance for international students attending Emory U as freshman this fall. We checked on your web site. We are interested in plans with low deductibles for clinic or best at Student Health Center. As Emory has a quality Health Center, we would like to consider this. Please help us to find health insurance plans meeting our requirement.
Thanks. Happy national day.

Dear American Visitor Insurance,
I want to get an Student Express policy but I would like to know if Tennis Table Tournaments participation of University team members is considered as "Professional Athletics'" That is one of the exclusion of the policy.
Thank you,
Juan C Legaria

Dear Juan ,
As long as you are playing for the school, then this will be considered as either Intercollegiate or Interscholastic Athletics and you will be covered up to $5,000 for Non US citizen.
