The policy maximum amount of coverage is the cumulative total amount of Dollar amount benefit that is available by Student Journey Lite student insurance. Once reached, no other benefits will be available. Student Journey Platinum student insurance has policy maximum options of $150,000, $300,000 and $500,000.

Who is eligible for Student Journey plan?

  • Available for non-U.S. individual coming to the USA (or its territories) on J1,F1, and M1 visas
  • Be at least 31 days old but not yet 65 year old.
  • Be the spouse or child (eligible as dependants) of a participant and reside outside your primary country of residence for a temporary period of time.
  • Be physically and legally residing in the USA with the intent to reside there for at least 30 days on the effective date

Can the Student Journey insurance be extended or renewed?

Eligible insureds can request coverage renewal 30 days to 12 months in advance, as long as premiums are paid and eligibility requirements are met. Coverage can be reapplied for, but not automatically renewed.

What are the coverage conditions included in Student Journey Insurance?

  • Coverage and benefits are subject to the deductible and coinsurance, and all terms of the Certificate of Insurance and Master Policy
  • Coverage under this plan is secondary to any other coverage
  • Coverage and benefits are for medically necessary, usual, reasonable, and customary charges only
  • Charges must be administered or ordered by a physician
  • Charges must be incurred during the period of coverage or benefit period
  • Claims must be presented to IMG for payment within ninety (90) days from the date the claim was incurred.

The Student Journey insurance cost is ranges from $30 to $293 per month. This is dependent on the factors namely age of the student, the plan maximum and the deductible.

The higher the plan limit, the higher will be the premium, while the higher the deductible the lower will be the premium.Student Journey plan has 3 varients , Studet Journey Lite offers medical maximum of $150,000 with $100 dedutible, Studet Journey Plus offers medical maximum $300,000 with $500 dedutible and Studet Journey Platinum offers medical maximum $500,000 with deductible $250 up to ages 64.

  • Activities Covered upto lifetime maximum: abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hot air ballooning, jungle zip lining, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, rappelling, skydiving, spelunking, whitewater kayaking or whitewater rafting in water less than Class V difficulty, wildlife safaris, and windsurfing
  • Each and every activities are carried out in strict adherence with the instruction, best practices, and recommendations for safe practices as prescribed by a Governing Body or Authority.

If you purchase Student Journey Platinum student insurance from IMG with a United Healtcare logo on your insurance card, please state the following when informing your healthcare provider about your IMG travel insurance - "My healthcare coverage uses the United Healthcare travel health insurance network."

1. What are the coverage limits of Student Journey Insurance?

Student Journey Platinum Insurance is a medical insurance plan for students and cultural exchange participants. It has different coverage limits depending on the plan option you choose. This plan covers medical maximum of $150,000, $300,000 and $500,000 with deductible of $100, $250 and $500.

2. Does Student Journey cover pre-existing conditions?

IMG Student Journey insurance covers pre-existing conditions after 6 months of waiting period.

3. How Does the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Affect My Coverage?

Affordable Care Act affects the Non US students purchasing this plan. As non-resident aliens, international students, scholars and people involved in cultural exchange programs on F, J, Q, M Visas are not subject to the individual mandate for the first five years in the US. All other J categories are not subjected to the individual mandate for two years. Since international students are not subject to the mandate, they are not required to purchase a plan that meets PPACA requirements and can purchase the Student Journey Platinum.

4. Does Student Journey insurance cover Maternity?

Student journey insurance covers maternity up to $5,000 normal delivery $7,500 for c-section delivery and for newborn up to $500 maximum.

5. Does Student Journey insurance covers Adventure sports?

Yes. Adventure sports coverage is available as optional rider up to the age of 65 years. If you are a thrill-seeking traveler who enjoys life's more adventurous activities, you may want to consider adding supplemental coverage to your plan.

The Adventure Sports Rider provides coverage for any Illness or Injury sustained while taking part in activities designated as Adventure Sports, which are limited to the following: abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, cannoning, caving, hot air ballooning, jungle zip lining, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, rappelling, skydiving, spelunking and windsurfing.
