One of the more dramatic tourism trends in the 21st century has been the increase in Golf tourism. It is estimated that there are nearly 60 million Golf enthusiasts globally, with nearly 30 million in the US, 15 million in Japan, around 6 million in Europe, 5 million in Canada and 4 million in the UK. There are currently over 32,000 golf courses spread across 140 countries worldwide. Of these golf courses, around 17,000 are located in the United States with Europe accounting for another 6,000. Traditional golf tourism destinations include North America, Spain and Portugal.
