Travel and Trip Insurance plans for US citizens abroad coming to the US and traveling on cruise outside the US

Hi,

My husband and I have been living in the UK since March 2020 and will continue to live and work here until 2023. However, we are U.S. citizens and own an apartment in New York City.

We intend to travel to New York in a couple of week’s time and would like to make sure that we have sufficient medical coverage during our time in the U.S., roughly 6 weeks.

I want to make sure before I purchase a policy with your company that it is valid for a New York long-term resident, although currently living outside the U.S., to purchase such a plan. The reason for my need to purchase the plan is my health insurance coverage through my employer is currently in the U.K., not the U.S. I have read some information on the internet that U.S. citizens living abroad, or perhaps even New York residents, might not be able to buy such medical insurance protection.

Please advise me if I am covered if I get something like the Patriot Platinum plan for me and my husband for our upcoming 6-week trip to the U.S.

Thank you,

Scott Davis

I purchased a plan earlier this year to the U.S. and it gave me great peace of mind, thank you. I’m still living in the UK (I’m a US citizen), and plan to travel to the U.S in December and get on a cruise ship that will sail to the Caribbean. I couldn’t see any details in any of your plans on what is covered aboard a cruise ship. can you provide me information on which plan I need to select to make sure I’m covered on cruise ships?

Thanks,
Scott
question Dear Scott,

You are covered on cruise ships as well. We have travel insurance plans and trip insurance plans that provide medical coverage on cruise ships. The difference between travel insurance and trip insurance plans is that the trip insurance provides coverage for trip cancellation and covers the cost of the cruise tickets in case of cancellation.
