Spain remains a hugely popular tourist attraction for US nationals with over a million US citizens visiting Spain annually. As a meeting point of many historic civilizations - from Europe across the Pyrenees at one end to crossing Gibraltar and from North Africa and the Arabian peninsula at the other end, Spain offers myriad fascinating cultural and historic centers. The two major destinations of course are its largest cities, Madrid and Barcelona, which are two of the most visited cities in Europe. Both offer many architectural attractions and their importance in history, culture, entertainment, fashion, sports and art make them hugely attractive to Americans. Other popular destinations include Seville, Granada, Toledo, Santander, Bilbao, Oviedo, Gijón and San Sebastián. All of them with historical landmarks in their own right. To add to this is the mild climate throughout the year with sandy beaches of both the Mediterranean and Atlantic Oceans make it truly irresistible to Americans.
