What Is Student Health Advantage Platinum Insurance?

Student Health Advantage Platinum is IMG's enhanced-benefit international student health insurance plan, built for students, scholars, interns, and exchange visitors studying outside their home country. It sits at the top of IMG's Student Health Advantage lineup, raising the policy maximum to $1,000,000 per coverage period and shortening the wait for pre-existing condition coverage to just 6 continuous months.

Where this plan stands apart from most student insurance options is its maternity and newborn benefit, paired with both inpatient and outpatient mental health coverage - two benefits that many budget student plans leave out entirely. Coverage can run monthly and renew continuously for up to five years (60 months), which suits students on multi-year degree programs.

In the United States, insured students get direct-billing access to the UnitedHealthcare Options PPO network; outside the U.S., IMG's own International Provider Access (IPA) network connects students to vetted doctors and hospitals worldwide. The plan is designed to satisfy typical F-1, J-1, and M-1 visa insurance requirements, and spouses or children on F-2/J-2/M-2 status can be added as dependents.
