Kangaroo Island lies off the mainland of South Australia to the southwest of the state capital Adelaide. Nearly half the island is protected in nature reserves and is home to native wildlife like the sea lions, koalas as well as to many diverse bird species.
The island is home to many nature reserves which aim to protect the remaining natural flora and fauna. The largest and best-known of these nature reserves is Flinders Chase National Park.
Layout of Kangaroo Island :-The second largest town on Kangaroo Island, has a population of around 300, and is located on the north eastern tip of the Dudley Peninsula, on the eastern end of the island.
Flinders Chase National Park is a protected area located at the west end of Kangaroo Island.
Penneshaw is a township located on the northeast coast of the Dudley Peninsula on Kangaroo Island. It is about 100 kilometres south of Adelaide.
Kingscote is a town located on Kangaroo Island about 120 kilometres south-west of Adelaide.
The American River is a town located on the western shore of Eastern Cove on Kangaroo Island.
